Didier Scheuren "Beherzt”

"Beherzt” is a striking mixed-media sculpture that embodies courage and resilience. Crafted from a worn left-hand boxing glove and plastic roses, the piece juxtaposes strength with fragility. The glove, symbolizing grit and determination, contrasts with the delicate beauty of the roses, representing the bravery it takes to find softness and grace in the midst of struggle. On the card is written “Never be a champion for the few, but allow the many to all be champions”. Together, the found materials create a bold narrative of courage through adversity, capturing the essence of being “beherzt”—fearless and unyielding.

Didier Scheuren “Identificado”

“Identificado” is a vibrant collage that explores the complex layers of human perception and identity. Through an interplay of images representing men, women, nature, and dream-like elements, the piece delves into how we see and understand each other and the world around us. It reflects on the fluidity of identity, the beauty of dreams, and the urgency of truly living. Bold and dynamic, “Identificado” invites viewers to reflect on their own perceptions, reminding us that life must be fully embraced and experienced.

Jan Thau "100degree"

100 degrees is the officially recommended temperature in Germany for preserving food that is cooked in airtight jars. Due to Russia’s war of aggression and increasing poverty, canning is being used more and more in Ukraine. This work is about ‘preserving’ personalities and identities instead of food. The participants were asked to provide an object that symbolises their personality and identity. They were asked questions that reflect the theme of identity and a portrait was made. The answers and stories about the individual objects can be accessed via a QR code. The glasses are also a kind of time capsule, as they show an individual section of the respective personality at the present time and can be retrieved sooner or later when the question of identity takes on a different meaning.
